Have you been banned for your name?
I was recently banned for having an obscene name. I've seen many threads where people complain about it here and try to get unbanned, and this is *Not* one of those threads. I'm just curious about how many of you have been banned, what your name was, and how you felt about it.
I was banned and my name was "Hoes R For Gardens". I got the idea for the name when i read a thread about someone being banned because their name had "hoes" in it. Someone in that thread said "Ho's are the Wh0res, Hoes are for gardens" and I took it to see if people were actually sensitive enough to get offened. I, honestly, feel that my ban was justified. It obviously is asking to get reported, and i really just wanted to see how far i could get with the play on words.
So..
->Have you ever been banned for having an inappropriate name?
->What was it? Do you feel your ban was justified?

Yea happened to me more than a year ago. My name was " Cat Poop " and most people who saw it laughed. Then one day when i couldn't wait to log in and play, and to my dismay, i was banned for 24 hours. I thought it was kinda silly. A game developed by adults, for adults seemed like it had some childish rules. I guess its ok to have almost naked charecters , but not a silly name. But watchout, don't even think about having a funny name. When you can't play for one whole day, you end up doing normal things. I drank beer and ate some good Italian food. Soon as the 24 hours was up, it was back to snack food and bottles of soda
Lesson learned, ..................still trying to figure that one out - -

Yep - Mhenlo Is My Biatch
Apparently, some little 10 year old felt he finally hit puberty and wanted Mhenlo for himself
Anyways, the game isnt intended for young children, so honestly names really shouldnt matter. If you cant handle an adult name than maybe you need to go back to "Care Bears and The Adventure of Friendship"
edit - I agree with the above poster as well. If my ele can shake her tits everywhere and THAT is ok, then why is a slightly offensive name a bannable offense? Personally, if your a male warrior and your dancing naked I should be able to have you banned because I dont want to see 3 warriors acting out their gay fantasies in a game.

Imo, the name name filtering is ridiculous.... I was banned for my warriors original name of S A C K M AS T E R, which apparently is incredible offensive.

FYI, just because it's not intended for children doesn't mean it needs to allow "Adult" content. Some people don't care for that, it can tarnish the reputation of a game, and there are plenty of games if you want "Adult Content" you can go play.
As for the dancing, shaking, and clothing of the charactes, it's easy to avoid from a player perspective, simply don't do it or play those characters (There are male avatars too.
And yes, I believe you can report people for using emotes in inapropriate ways (There were supposed bans/sanctions for using Emotes as PvP victory dances).
Still, I think simply forcing you to change them should be good enough unless you're a repeat offender.

A game that doesnt "need" to allow adult content, YET it allows characters to dance damn near naked and in an adult/provocative manner. Sounds like they allow adult content already.....
And as far as avoiding it, guess I cant go into any towns anymore, cause that is obviously where these things probably happen the most.

You can choose not to dance. Several of the dances are also pop culture references or actual cultural dances.
People wear the same clothing in public Bikini's are perfectly legal for the most part.
Seriously, saying "Because an Elementalist does the Hula in a Bikini, I should be able to name her Dildo Wielder" is not a strong arguement.

Nope but I only have normal non-offensive names. Sorry. Don't see the point in trying to 'sneak' offensive names past anet and see what I can get away with.

lol i agree that names shouldn't be banned. Grow up people who report. However, i myself have never created a bad name except CuckLn Frazy, which i deleted before it was caught...it was my account name in Hero Battles though and i placed top 16 with it in monthly tournament and they emailed me saying " Congratz Cuckln Frazy, you have won.....blah blah blah" made me lol. Never got banned.

I have a character that probably could be ban-worthy. Let's just say it is a variation on Tits Mcgee. A friend and I decided to start new characters one day, and we recently saw Anchorman....you get the picture. I almost wish I could change her name though....for now she is my beloved paragon.

Heh, coincidentally, I have a pet named Sackbiter. If anyone is ever in a vindictive mood, they could probably get the vast majority of my characters banned - Kedric Trolltwatter, Kedric Planttwatter, ~Deathtwatter, ~Dwarftwatter etc. etc.
Has no rude connotations at all. It's from the N. English verb to twat, which means to hit, smack, whatever - watched too much Red Dwarf: ""If it moves, twat it. If it doesn't move, twat it anyway."
Some people will just like to pull the word apart and take offence at the twat part. Which again is only rude in parts of England, as far as I'm aware.
Hey - take offence, somebody - always fancied renaming all 21 of my chars

I was banned for 72 hours for the name:
Snype Has A I D S (the string "aids" isn't filtered btw, it is completely allowed, so my spacing was not just a way of getting away from the filter)
My ban was completely unjustified. What if I did have AIDS? Stating a fact deserves a ban?

It's offensive in America too, but yeah...banning for a word like that is ridiculous.
